Yep, you heard right. We’re expecting a baby! Angela and I are expecting a new addition to our family within the next year. It’s funny how things happen when you pray those crazy prayers asking God to do anything He wants to do in you or through you. He might just ask you to do something that seems impossible.
Angela, the girls and I believe the time is now for us to grow our family by adoption. We’ve talked about adopting a few times over the last eight years, but the timing never seemed right. In reality, I didn’t believe it was possible for a number of reasons. The huge financial requirements as well as the time and interruptions that come with having a little baby are enough to make me say “impossible.”
Well, I’ve had a change of heart regarding what’s possible or impossible. Since moving here to Kansas City, I have seen countless impossible scenarios work out famously due to the presence of a hidden, many times silent, awesome God. I can’t tell you how it works, only that as we each reach for complete, 100% obedience to Him, something amazing happens. Things begin to fall in place.
Now, it is our turn. We are in the midst of the Home Study process which should be completed within a couple of months. This has involved lots of paperwork and interviews with a social worker. Once done, our family can officially be matched with potential birth mothers making an adoption plan for their children. By the way, we are all hoping for a boy.
In the meantime, we are remodeling the upstairs a bit to create a special little baby room and working to get some projects done before the baby arrives.
